Terms of Service

Last updated: March 12, 2026

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using FileMind, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.

2. License

FileMind is proprietary software sold under a per-seat license.

Trial license (free)

The free Trial tier allows use of FileMind with up to 50 PDFs. There is no time limit on the Trial. Trial use is permitted for personal, academic, and commercial evaluation purposes.

Pro license ($39, one-time)

A Pro license grants one individual the right to install and use FileMind on up to 2 machines simultaneously. The license is perpetual — you may use the version you purchased indefinitely. Lifetime updates are included for as long as FileMind is actively developed.

Lab license ($139, one-time)

A Lab license grants use for up to 5 individual users within a single institution, research group, or organization. Each seat may be used on up to 2 machines. Lifetime updates are included.

Restrictions (all tiers)

  • You may not distribute, sublicense, rent, or sell copies of the software
  • You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the application
  • You may not use the software to build a competing product
  • License keys are non-transferable between organizations

3. Refund policy

We offer a 30-day no-questions-asked refund on all purchases. To request a refund within 30 days of purchase, email support@filemind.app with your order number. Refunds are processed within 5–7 business days via the original payment method.

Refunds are not available after 30 days, except where required by applicable consumer protection law.

4. Updates and support

Lifetime updates are provided as long as FileMind is actively maintained. We reserve the right to change pricing for new licenses; existing license holders are not affected. We do not guarantee any specific roadmap items or delivery timelines.

Support is provided via email. Pro licenses receive standard email support; Lab licenses receive priority email support. Trial users may use GitHub Discussions.

5. Disclaimer of warranties

FileMind is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the software will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose. Use of FileMind to rename files is at your own risk; we recommend maintaining backups.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FileMind and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from the use or inability to use the software. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid for your license.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New Zealand.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the changelog. Continued use of FileMind after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
